TOP UK BARISTA VISITS COCKERMOUTH TO TRAIN NEW COFFEE SHOP STAFF AT VEEVA!

26th May 2011

One of the UK’s top baristas Paul Meikle-Janney visits Cockermouth this week to train the staff of a new coffee shop in the art of coffee making.

The new town centre coffee shop VeeVa!, located on the corner opposite Sainbury’s, opens  its doors to the public on Monday 6th June.  In the meantime the new staff team are in intensive training and were thrilled when they heard who would be doing their barista training.

Coffee Shop Manager Gareth Williams said “I was at the Caffé Culture exhibition at Olympia a few weeks ago which is the top event for people in the coffee business.  As soon as you mentioned Paul’s name it was clear how highly respected he is.  We’re really lucky to have him and we’re looking forward to passing on the benefits  to our customers.”

Known for world leading training within the coffee and barista worlds, Coffee Community’s Managing Director Paul Meikle-Janney helped write both the City & Guild’s Barista Qualification and the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) Qualifications.  Over the years he has been heavily involved in both the UK and World Barista Championships, where he sits on the Rules & Regulations Committee.  He was also part of the UK barista team that won the SCAE World Team Challenge Cup in 2006, and is currently Co-ordinator of the World Coffee in Good Spirits Competition and Head Judge for the World Latte Art Championship.
